Getting Started


Whether you have decided to specifically use Theme Three for your entire web page or have elected to use the Footer Override to customize your chosen theme with the Theme Three Footer, this page will focus on customizing your footer and how to add specific blocks to that footer.

Once you have set your footer to Theme Three, you can find your Footer by following these steps:


  1. From your myShopify homepage, go to Online Store > Themes
  2. Find and click Customize
  3. You will see the customization menu on the left of your screen. Scroll to the very bottom to find and select Footer


Once you have found and opened your site's Footer settings, you'll notice several areas for customization. These are:


  • Show Social Media
  • Show Payment Icons
  • Show Language Selector
  • Show Currency Selector
  • Show Cookie Bar
  • Cookie Bar Text
  • Cookie Bar Accept Button
  • Background Color
  • Heading Text Color
  • Body Text Color
  • Accent Color


Show Social Media

This section includes a tick box allowing for the display of your social media links and icons. By enabling this, previously added and linked social media accounts will be displayed; however, this must be done beforehand. In order to customize your Social Media, please check out How to Customize Theme Settings.


Show Payment Icons

This section features a tick box allowing for the display of the icons of all of your store's accepted payment methods. These can be customized in your store's Shopify settings.


Show Language Selector

This section includes a tick box that allows for the addition of a Language Selector to your store's page. You can customize which languages are available for customer use in your Language Settings.


Show Currency Selector

This section includes a tick box that allows for the addition of a Currency Selector to your store's page. You can customize which currencies are available for customer use in your Currency Settings.


This section includes a tick box that allows the display of the Cookie Bar. Your Cookie Bar is a small pop-up bar displaying at the bottom of the page when customers visit. This bar will include your store's online cookie policy.


Cookie Bar Text

This section includes a text box allowing for the input of your store's cookie policy. The text input into this section will be displayed across your store's Cookie Bar pop-up.


Cookie Bar Accept Button

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the text appearing on your Cookie Bar's Accept Button. We recommend choosing text that best fits your store's culture and style.


Background Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the background of the Footer.


When customizing a section of your webpage and given the option to choose a color, you will have the opportunity to drag the cursor over general colors or input a HEX code for specific shades. We recommend playing around with this feature to come up with what works best for your store


Heading Text Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the Heading Text for each of your added blocks.

Body Text Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the Body Text for each of your added blocks.


When customizing a section of your webpage and given the option to choose a color, you will have the opportunity to drag the cursor over general colors or input a HEX code for specific shades. We recommend playing around with this feature to come up with what works best for your store


Accent Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the Accents used across the Footer.


When customizing a section of your webpage and given the option to choose a color, you will have the opportunity to drag the cursor over general colors or input a HEX code for specific shades. We recommend playing around with this feature to come up with what works best for your store


Once you have finished customizing the Footer settings, you will find that you can add several blocks for customization. In order to add these blocks, follow these steps:


  1. From your myShopify homepage, go to Online Store > Themes
  2. Find and click Customize
  3. You will see the customization menu on the left of your screen. Scroll to the very bottom to find and select the drop-down arrow next to Footer
  4. From here, select Add Block to add and begin customizing your Footer Blocks


Once you have selected Add Block, you'll find several options for adding blocks. These are:

  • Text
  • Links
  • Newsletter


Text

The Text block allows for the addition of specific text and information displays in the store's Footer. In this block, you will find two sections: Heading and Content.


Heading

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the Heading of the Text block.


Content

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the Content of the Text block.


The Links block allows for a menu item to be linked to the store's Footer. In order to link a menu, click Select Menu and choose the appropriate menu. It will look something like this:

Newsletter

The Newsletter block allows for the addition of a submission section to the Footer. With this block, customers will be able to subscribe to email updates from the store in the form of a newsletter. This block includes two sections for customization: Heading and Subheading.


Heading

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the title, or Heading, of the Newsletter section.


Subheading

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the content, or Subheading, of the Newsletter section. This is where information about the store's newsletter can be added.
