Getting Started

The POS Buy option allows for your stores to buy product from customers in exchange for cash or (store) credit. This is a great tool for getting more, specialized product in your store that may no longer be possible to order; this also allows for the use of store credit to keep the customers returning to your store more and more.

If available, we recommend offering a bit more to customers using store credit, so that they will be incentivized to return and spend more money and time in your shop

This article will focus on two areas:

  • How to Toggle Between POS Buy and Sell
  • How to Toggle Between Cash and Credit When Using POS Buy
  • Further Tips and Tricks

How to Toggle Between POS Buy and Sell

Toggling between POS Sell and Buy is an incredibly simple and straightforward action that opens up your store to more than just selling products. Follow these steps to begin:

  1. From your store's BinderPOS Portal, select POS Settings
  2. From the POS Settings Tab, select Point of Sale
  3. Select and open the Till your store is using
  4. From your store's Till, find and select the Sell toggle switch
  5. The switch should change to orange and now say Buy

How to Toggle Between Cash and Credit When Using POS Buy

After POS Buy has been toggled on, your store will have the option to buy product from your customers. You can pay for this product through a couple different means: Cash and Credit. This section will focus on how to switch between these differing payment methods. In order to toggle between cash and credit pricing, follow these steps:

  1. After Toggling POS Buy On, your POS Buy will automatically be set to cash prices
  2. Find the Cash Prices button at the top of the page to switch
  3. The button will now say Credit Prices. Click this again to switch back to cash prices

After adding the product(s) to POS Buy, the checkout process will be virtually identical to when using POS Sell

WARNING: Credit Price and Cash Price are not the same. Cash prices will always be less than their Credit equivalents. Please remember to have the correct toggle set BEFORE adding products to the cart, as no changes will be made retroactively. That is, if a TCG Single is added to the Buy cart under the Cash Price tab instead of the Credit Price, the product will be bought for the cash price, even if the customer is paid in store credit. Please be mindful of this

Further Tips and Tricks

Cash and Credit Pricing PSA

While the Buy toggle is a great tool for adding items that are already in your system, whether you have them in stock or not, such as TCG Singles, if not careful, the Credit and Cash price options can prove frustrating. See below for an example:

In the above image, the Buy is set to Cash Prices. Notice that, even though there are none of the selected Dragonite cards in stock, there is still a cash price available.

In the above image, the pricing has been switched from Cash to Credit. The highlighted Dragonite card's pricing has been updated to account for the credit option. Remember: credit will always be higher than cash. Please also note the warning at the bottom left of the page alerting when the pricing is changed between Cash and Credit.

In the above image, a single Dragonite card is added under the Credit price for $8.75.

Notice, now, that in the above image, the pricing has shifted from Credit to Cash. The Dragonite cared prices have changed in the search, but not in the cart. Even though a second Dragonite was added with the Cash price of $7.50, it was added to the cart with the Credit price of the first Dragonite card, at $8.75. This can lead to issues with pricing and confusion with Buy carts. Because of this, we recommend double checking that the correct pricing is used before products are added to the buy cart in order to prevent totally starting over.

Adding Custom Items

Just like with the POS Sell option, Buy allows for the ability to add custom items. Some examples of these custom items can be:

  • Specialized products
  • Bulk Products
  • Products not in the POS system

In order to add custom products, see below:

In order to add custom items, just like with POS Sell, select Add a Custom Item

Once Add a Custom Item has been selected, input all of the custom product info and select the save symbol to add the custom product. These custom products will not be affected by the Credit or Cash pricing. HOWEVER, if a custom item is added to a cart with other products and a Cash/Credit Pricing occurs, the entire cart may have to be abandoned and restarted. Please still be aware of the Cash/Credit toggle to avoid annoyances and frustrations.

Customizing Items

Like with adding wholly custom items, POS Buy also allows for the customization of items in the cart to be customized however is needed. For an example, see below:

In the above image, even though the Cash Price of the Dragonite card is $7.50, the price can be edited and customized to reflect whatever the price needs to be, for whatever reason. Here, the price has been adjusted to a ridiculous price of $100.00.

In some instances, a product that is being bought may not have prices in the POS system. These can also be customized. See below for another example:

In the above image, the boxes and booster packs do not have a buy price, as they are not often bought by stores. That being said, they can still be bought from customers, if wanted. Like with the above Dragonite, a custom price and quantity can be added to the Buy cart. The only difference between products with no price and products with a generated price is that products with no given price do not have a generated price based on market analytics, whereas the TCG Singles are generated based on TCGplayer's analytics.

In Stock Only Search Criteria

Another useful tool that can be utilized to filter out search results from the POS system is to utilize the In Stock Only check box. This feature allows for the POS Buy to focus only on what is available in your store's current stock. See below for examples:

In the above image, Dragonite is searched for, but the filter of In Stock Only is not selected, so all instances of Dragonite will appear. If the In Stock Only check box is selected, it will appear like this:

In the above image, any and all instances of Dragonite that are In Stock Only will be displayed.
