Getting Started

One additional way in which BinderPOS is fully customizable in its ability to choose between any of multiple Payment Terminals. These terminals are what allow your store's Binder Point of Sale to directly capture and process card payments. Benefits of using these terminals are as follows:

  • Because any charged amounts are automatically sent to the payment terminals, the risk of mischarging customers due to incorrect price entry is basically zero
  • Because payment status is automatically detected by the Point of Sale, the purchase will be marked as completed once the payment has gone through

Before beginning to use any of the payment terminals with BinderPOS, they must first be configured. See how below.

Configuring Payment Terminals with BinderPOS

Configuration of each Payment Terminal and their Connection Type is essential. It's important to note that each individual till is allowed its own configuration and connection; essentially, this means that larger stores utilizing multiple tills can branch out across more than one Payment Terminal, if they so choose.

In order to begin configuring payment terminals, follow these steps:

  1. From your BinderPOS Portal, select POS Settings > Payment Terminal Settings
  2. From Payment Terminal Settings, you will make two adjustments:
    1. Select the till being configured under Choose a Till
    2. Select the connection type for the specific till under Select your Payment Terminal's Connection Type

After selecting the till, there's the matter of choosing the till's connection type. The options for connection types are as follows:

  • No Payment Terminal (default)
  • PAX S300 (support ends 1/26/24)
  • USAePay Gateway (GPSpay)

When an option other than No Payment Terminal is chosen, more settings will appear for input. Each of these connection types and how to integrate them will be shown below.

PAX S300

The legacy terminal used by original BinderPOS customers is the PAX S300. Because this is the terminal that BinderPOS has had the most experience and use with, you can find a more detailed look at how to set up and integrate PAX S300 with our PAX Terminal Set Up Tutorial article.

USAePay Gateway (GPSpay)

For more information on setting up a payment terminal with GPSpay, please reach out to GPSpay at 800.884.7131‬ or bindersupport@gpspay.us. They will walk you through the set up. The steps below can be used as visuals for following along.

When a user receives their USAePay Gateway from the provider, they will also receive an API Key and an API Pin; these are absolutely essential for setting up the terminal(s) with BinderPOS. It is also possible to configure different API Keys for each till or share a single API Key across multiple tills, depending on the store or the API limits.

In order to begin setting up the USAePay Gateway (GPSpay), follow these steps:

  1. After selecting the till and the USAePay Gateway connection type, input the accompanying API Key and API Pin

  2. After entering API settings, a new payment terminal can be added by selecting Add New Device

  3. OPTIONAL: If necessary, API settings can be changed by selecting Edit API Settings

Adding a Payment Terminal

After clicking Add New Device, a series of prompts will appear with specific steps to follow. In order to go through this process and successfully add a new payment terminal under USAePay Gateway, follow these steps:

  1. Select Add New Device

  2. This will open a pop-up and initiate a pairing process. Enter the new device name under Device Name

  3. Select Register

  4. A pairing code will pop up on the screen. Enter this code into your physical payment terminal to complete the pairing process
