Getting Started


Whether you have decided to specifically use Theme One for your entire web page or have elected to use the Footer Override to customize your chosen theme with the Theme One Footer, this page will focus on customizing your footer and how to add specific blocks to that footer.

Once you have set your footer to Theme One, you can find your Footer by following these steps:


  1. From your myShopify homepage, go to Online Store > Themes
  2. Find and click Customize
  3. You will see the customization menu on the left of your screen. Scroll to the very bottom to find and select Footer


Once you have found and opened your site's Footer settings, you'll notice several areas for customization. These are:

  • Background Color
  • Text Color
  • Icon Color
  • About Column Logo
  • About Column Title
  • About Column Text
  • About Column Links
  • Follow Us
  • We Accept


Background Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the background of the Footer.


When customizing a section of your webpage and given the option to choose a color, you will have the opportunity to drag the cursor over general colors or input a HEX code for specific shades. We recommend playing around with this feature to come up with what works best for your store


Text Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the Text for each of your added blocks.

Icon Color

This section allows for the customization of the color of the Icons used across the Footer. Some examples include the Social Media icons.

This section allows for the selection and customization of the logo used in the Theme One Footer's About Column. This section is the left-most section in the Footer. In order to choose the appropriate logo, click Select Image. It will look something like this:



After you have chosen your image, you will notice another customization option become available: Add alt text.


Adding alt text is a good way for your to include addition descriptions that will appear just beneath your logo. You can add up to 255 characters to this alt text feature


About Column Title

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the content of the About Column's Title. We recommend choosing a title that is eye-catching and attention grabbing for the purposes of the shop.


About Column Text

This section includes a text box allowing for the content of the About Column's Text to be customized. We recommend a brief, informative description best fitting your shop.


This section allows for a menu item to be linked to the store's Footer. In order to link a menu, click Select Menu and choose the appropriate menu. It will look something like this:


 

Follow Us

This section includes a text box allowing for the title or heading of the linked Social Media section to be customized. This text box only affects the title above the social media icons. In order to customize your Social Media, please check out How to Customize Theme Settings. 


We Accept

This section includes a text box allowing for the title or heading of the linked Payment Icons section to be customized. This text box only affects the title above the payment icons. These can be customized and adjusted in your store's Shopify settings.


Once you have finished customizing the Footer settings, you will find that you can add several blocks for customization. In order to add these blocks, follow these steps:


  1. From your myShopify homepage, go to Online Store > Themes
  2. Find and click Customize
  3. You will see the customization menu on the left of your screen. Scroll to the very bottom to find and select the drop-down arrow next to Footer
  4. From here, select Add Block to add and begin customizing your Footer Blocks


Once you have selected Add Block, you'll two options for adding blocks. These are: Menu Links and Rich Text.


The Menu Links block has two sections allowing for further customization of the Footer: Menu Title and Menu.


This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the title of the menu to be linked below.


In order to link a menu, click Select Menu and choose the appropriate menu. It will look something like this:



Rich Text

The Rich Text block is a useful way to include added text or linked text through the use of HTML. This block is further divided into two sections for customization. These are: Block Title and Rich Text.


Block Title

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the heading or Title of the Rich Text block.


Rich Text

This section includes a text box allowing for the customization of the link text or HTML coding in the Rich Text block.
